Creativity

Creativity is the origination of new ideas that were previously non-existent. Some people find themselves to have a more creative output right after waking-up, right before falling asleep and many literally dream up their ideas.

It is a myth that highly intelligent people (do they really exist?) tend to be less creative than others who are considered ignorant. It sure appears like so. One reason that this seems to be is that those who do not consider themselves intelligent, do not worry about looking or sounding stupid, and therefore ramble on without thinking about what they are saying, eventually hitting on a new idea by "accident". Those who are considered intelligent keep their label by remaining silent and consequently do not experiment with ideas that seem silly.

Silly Ideas

Silly ideas are those that do not seem to follow rules, and are consequently thrown out, but modifications to these ideas can result in a different path to the desired objective through unusual connections.

Mind Maps

Tony Buzan is widely recognized for his development of Mind Maps. Mind Maps consist of a central idea connected to words that are related to the main idea and so on taking off in several branches. These can be used for notetaking as well as brainstorming.

Networking Ideas

In my opinion this is the best way to generate new ideas, concepts, and solve problems. By Networking ideas I mean trying to solve a problem or find connections as a group. This is the most efficient way because once someone airs an idea, the rest of the group members have something new to go on which may look familiar to one other person. Because everyone has had different experiences, one idea will trigger another. Each person has a different piece of the puzzle and no one else can see it; even if they could see it, it would be harder for them to find its place. I think creativity can only be based on current knowledge, but, current knowledge may obscure the creative abilities of an individual when ideas are rejected as illogical rather than looking at the idea in a different light.

To find a solution we must interlock the puzzle pieces and remember that more than one piece can fit in many different ways. This is why I decided to create a experimental message board where users from the wired world can raise questions and post ideas. Any new idea, no matter how small, may be the piece someone else needs to solve their puzzle. In the collection of these original ideas and questions, I hope that people will be inspired to add their ideas and ask more questions. Imagine finding the answer to something you've wondered about for a while, and it wasn't given to you on the message board... You simply saw something that appeared to be related to your question and solved it yourself. This feeling of "Aha!" is what I hope this message board will render to the reader.
